A Tour of the Neighborhood

On our walks around Steven's neighborhood we spotted several "Oasis" or watering holes as Dad so daintily put it, in interesting designs (these are not all of them).  You can rest peacefully that we will not dehydrate while we are here.

While the houses in Steven's neighborhood are quite large they are nothing compared to the very large and very ostentatious ones we have seen in other area of the city.  While these are very large homes they lack one important item for a country with dust storms and temperatures as high at 56C - garages.  Instead they build temporary looking carports which destroy the beauty of the neighborhoods.  There are some plantings to be seen in a couple of the pictures but these are the very rare exceptions.

There are also several Mosques in the neighborhood from which we hear the call to prayer and prayer five times a day.  They start about 5:15 AM which were very noticeable when suffering from jet lag but now we no longer hear them at that hour.
