Camel Races

Saturday afternoon we decided to try the Camel Races again.  We got there just as they were finishing the 1st race and saw the winners receive their awards.  We went into the clubhouse/stands to watch the second race which is done via TV as the track is so large the only part of the race you see live is coming up to and across the finishing line.  They burn incense in the clubhouse and bring it around to you to inhale.  The smell was so strong inside that we quickly left and watched the next race standing right up to the actual track with the camels coming right by us.  It was actually better to be inside as you saw the entire race with the focus on the camels in the lead and it was fun to see the closeness of the race until near the end when the lead camel moved out in front.  In the picture above you can see vehicles behind the camels.  If you want to you can watch the race from your vehicle while driving along side the camels which we did for the next race.  The owners of the camels drive along side to yell encouragement to their camel because they do not use human jockeys.  Instead of human jockeys they use robots which they also control from their vehicles. The picture with 31 is one of the robots.

The bottom picture shows us riding along side the track.  Steven was trying not to get too close to the other vehicles as some of the drivers are extremely aggressive and we had the entire family in the car.
